About TRAILSIDE TABLE

Since you’re here, you must be a fellow outdoor cooking enthusiast. My husband and I have been cooking and eating our way across North America since we first adopted our Bengal Tiger Adventure Vehicle in 2018. We’ve learned a few things about how to cook in such a small space, and I’m passing that knowledge along to you.

Cooking Techniques

When on the road or in a tiny kitchen preparing a full meal can be difficult. I’m always trying out new methods to elevate simple meals while cutting down on dirty dishes and necessary prep space. Every time I try something new I add it to the blog and let you know how it went.

Trail-tested Drinkware

Having reusable drinkware that is both beautiful and functional is key if you want to elevate your base camp. Our 32 oz insulated water bottle is based on a watercolor by Utah artist (and Trailside Family) Rachel Mangan. All other drinkwate is designed in house and perfect for enjoying beverages while cooking fire side. I’ve even been known to coal bake in our enameled mug!

Cast Iron Care

While on the road I learned many tricks for effectively cleaning cast iron. I have taken what I learned and created a conditioning scrub that helps to clean and condition your pan easily and without guesswork. I have also identified and sourced a couple of tools that are useful for everyday or particularly stubborn cleaning jobs.

Inspiration

It is the nature of travel to be exposed to new cultures and cuisines, that’s what makes it great. Naturally, these new experiences lead to inspiration in the kitchen. This comes through in new methods, local ingredients, and flavor combinations to experiment with. Whenever I come across something new and interesting, you’re the first to know!

I’m off the grid quite a bit, but as I work on new recipes or discover new finds I add a post or two to my instagram account. Follow along to see what’s new!
