  • Our Cast Iron Conditioning Scrub comes in a 20 oz jar. A little goes a long way—one jar lasts approximately 3-4 months with regular use, depending on how often you cook and clean your cast iron. We typically use around one tablespoon of scrub each time we clean, depending on how much there is to clean out.

    1. Brush or gently scrape any large food bits out of the pan. If there are particularly stubborn spots, use a chain mail scrubber to loosen.

    2. Place a spoonful of conditioning scrub into the pan and use a low-lint cloth or paper towel to scrub the surface of the pan. Add more conditioning scrub or repeat, if necessary.

    3. When the surface of the pan is free of food debris, dispose of the used scrub and rinse out the remaining food and excess salt.

    4. Dry off excess water and return the pan to the heat source until it just starts to smoke. This helps the pan dry and improves seasoning. Cool before storing.

WARNINGS: Eye Irritant. Not Intended For Internal Consumption. Keep Out Of Reach Of Children.

STORAGE AND USE: Store In A Cool Place Away From Moisture And Light. Remove From Jar Using A Clean, Dry Spoon To Minimize Contamination.

  • Will it remove rust?– This scrub is designed for regular maintenance, but light surface rust may be improved with use. For heavy rust, we recommend stripping and re-seasoning your cast iron.

Is it safe for enameled cast iron? – Yes! It’s gentle enough to use on enameled surfaces without scratching. That being said, enameled cast iron does not require seasoning, so our natural fiber scrub brush or chainmail scrubber may be a better choice for cleaning stuck food on enameled cast iron.

How often should I use it? – Use after every cook to keep your cast iron clean and well-conditioned. At a minimum use it any time there is food, sauce, or odors you want to remove.

How long does one container last? – A little goes a long way! One tablespoon of scrub can tackle most messes. Less is needed for relatively easy jobs. More, or a second cleaning, may be needed for particularly odorific clean up jobs. With regular use, one jar should last for months.

How should the scrub be stored? - Store in a cool, dry place away from light.
