Cheater Poached Eggs

Poach an Egg Like a Pro (Cheater)

For those of us out there who can’t poach an egg using traditional methods, I offer you this solution. It’s like a half-poached, half-steamed, sunny-side-up egg. There are runny yolks, set whites, and only a small amount of water used.

Directions

  1. Add the water to the pan. There should be enough water to cover the bottom of the pan with about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

  2. Bring the water to a full, rolling boil. Remove the pan from the heat and lower the burner to its lowest setting.

  3. With the pan off of the heat, gently crack the eggs into the pan. Very carefully move the pan back onto the heat.

  4. Cover and allow to cook for about 2 minutes. At this point you should take a peek under the lid to see how things are coming along. The whites should be set, but the eggs should still jiggle when you shake the pan. Cook another 1 to 2 minutes if needed.

  5. Remove the eggs from the pan with a slotted spoon and dig in!
